Supporting Young Eyes

Children rely heavily on their eyes to grow and learn. In fact, 80% of what a child learns is visual. As a parent, bringing your child in to visit the optometrist early is vital for supporting their eye and vision needs.

During a child’s eye exam, many visual issues can be identified, and steps can be taken to control or correct them. If controlled early, the long-term effects of issues like nearsightedness can often be limited.

At CHROMA modern Eyewear Eyecare, we’re here to provide your whole family with exceptional eye care. We create a comfortable and fun environment for your child, no matter their age.

Importance of Children’s Eye Exams

Growing eyes require extra attention. Children aren’t always able to tell when something is wrong with their eyes or when they need visual help.

As a parent, it’s important to recognize early warning signs of visual issues and book an appointment with your child’s eye doctor if you notice anything. It’s also crucial that your child visits us for regular eye exams.

The following are common warning signs of vision problems in children:

  • Short attention span
  • Frequent headaches
  • Seeing double
  • Difficulty reading
  • Frequently eye rubbing or blinking

Regular Children’s Eye Exams

Strong eye care should start at a young age for all children. After their first eye exam, it’s important to start a consistent routine of visiting the optometrist.

From your child’s first visit with us onward, our practice will work to create an experience where they feel comfortable and enjoy coming in for their exams.

6–17 Years of Age

Once your child is 6 years old, yearly eye exams are recommended. These eye exams are part of a routine that’s crucial for identifying problems early and ensuring visual issues are being corrected.
